Investiture Ceremony – 6th June, 2017

The Investiture Ceremony was conducted at the school on the 6th of June. All the Captains, Vice Captains and Prefects including Head Boy and Head Girl were appointed as Leaders for the year 2017–18.

The Director, Mrs. Sonya Chacko pinned on their badges while the Principal Mrs. Prabha honored the captains and Vice Captains with sashes following which they took a solemn oath to lead by example and take on their responsibilities with dedication.

Graduation Ceremony - 23rd February 2017

The Graduation Ceremony of the graduating batch of 2017 was held on 23rd February 2017.It began with a solemn slow march by the graduating students into the auditorium and onto the stage. The opening ceremony included the lighting of the lamp following which the light was then passed on to the students. The graduating batch also sang two beautiful prayer songs before taking their solemn oath. Later each child was felicitated along with their parents and the best students from differnt fields were awarded. The students of Std 9 presented a farewell song that brought a nostalgic note to the event. The class photographs were a fitting end to this beautiful occasion.

Project Exhibition - 31st Jan 2017 - 4th Feb 2017

The Project Exhibition for 2016-17 was conducted from the 30th January to the 3rd of February. Our little ones of UKG came all dressed up as different' People Who Help Us', and spoke confidently about the profession they were representing. Std I too came on stage and individually explained a festival of India along with their beautifully made charts. Standards II to V presented their projects on Places of Worship, Landforms of India and Architectural Marvels of India with intricate models and charts. Every child was a pleasure to watch and the parents eagerly cheered them on.
All students were rated by the parents and the highest rated students were given red ribbons and certificates while those with a rating that was slightly lower were given blue ribbons.

Junior Trip - Wonder La

The school organized a one day outing for Std V and VI to Wonder La. The students were eagerly waiting for this day to enjoy and have fun. The trip was held on
25th of January 2017.

The students enjoyed the dry rides, wave pool, water slides and much more having great fun. They were back to school by 6:30 pm in the evening, after which the parents picked up their children from school.

Club Cabana

The students of Std III and IV were taken for a one day picnic to Club Cabana. The bus ride was a short, fun one for the kids. When they got there they immediately began enjoying the water rides and wave pool. After lunch they enjoyed the dry rides as well. All the kids and teachers had a great time together!

Christmas Celebration 19th & 20th December, 2016

Christmas celebrations were held for KG – Std. II on 19th Dec. in the school auditorium. The tiny tots put up a Nativity play and sang some lovely Christmas songs. The children were rewarded with a visit by Santa Claus who danced and sang with them.Std. III - X had their party on 20th Dec. They presented a modern play about the true meaning of Christmas, sang a mix of new and old classic and peppy Christmas songs. Every class had a party with their classes decorated. Games were organized by the teachers to make the day even more joyful for the children.The children were delighted to receive presents too.

Christmas Charity – 2016

Visit to the Government Schools & Homes
For this year’s Christmas charity drive, the school decided to give new clothes to the neighbouring Government school children. Our KG teachers went to the Government schools at Kothanur, Hennur and Geddalahlli and personally took measurement of each child to make sure that every child got the right size outfit. After which a pair of Jeans & shirts / t-shirts were bought for all the boys and frocks / salwars / ghagras were bought for all the girls. Altogether there were 256 boys and 236 girls from all the three Government schools. The students of our school who contributed the highest towards the charity collection visited the Government Schools and handed over new clothes specially ordered for them.The joy of receiving new clothes was evident on the childrens’ faces. Apart from new clothes, snacks were also distributed to every child.The other set of highest contributors visited the Auto Raja’s Home of Hope known as the New Ark Mission of India that takes care of the destitute, Jireh Children’s Home, Vadrapalya and Grace Home for Children, Byrathi. At all the three homes provisions and toiletries were donated. At Jireh Children’s Home along with provisions and toiletries new clothes were given to all the 13 children of the home.

Junior Michaelites Parents Day – 2nd December 2016

Junior Michaelites Parents Day (Kg – Std. V) was held on 2nd December, 2016. At the star of the programme the Director and Principal addressed the parents. The Director also felicitated two staff members Mrs. Joy Wilson and Mrs. Mitali Patnaik for completing 10 years of service in the school this year. Parents being our special guests for the day were treated to a variety of dance, song and solo performances. Every child was given an opportunity to shine in the limelight as it is one of the main principles of the school. Every item gained applause from the audience as a reward for the hard work put forth by the students and teachers. It was fun filled day for everyone.

Nature Club Rally – 26th November, 2016

The students of the Nature Club at St. Michael’s High School took out a drive against the use of plastic. They marched down Hennur Main Road shouting slogans and distributing fliers they had made themselves about spreading awareness to save nature and the hazards of plastic to nature. They visited shops and explained the hazards of plastic to the environment and requested the shop keepers not to use plastic bags. They even had separate fliers for citizens asking them as well not to use plastic. The students enjoyed distributing the fliers among the general public creating awareness to avoid plastic and save planet Earth.

Childrens’ Day Celebration – 14th November, 2016

Childrens Day is one of the best days of the year for all the Michaelites. Besides no classes or studies they get to watch or be part of the fancy dress competition and then later watch a series of performance by the teachers!

The children were treated to a variety of dance performances like Folk dance (KG & Primary teachers), Kerala style dance & Fusion dance (Higher Primary teachers) Semi Classical and Folk dance (Middle and high school teachers), a humerous Kannada Skit (language teachers) and to top it all a Fashion Show. Besides this some teachers sang some songs as well. Apart from this Flower Arrangement, and Rangoli competitions were organized.

The day ended with distribution of chocolate bars to everyone.

Social Science Week V - IX – 7th – 11th November, 2016

The Social Science week was held from 7th to 11th November, 2016. The Seven Continents of the world was the broad topic for this year’s Social Science Week. Each class focused on a continent Std. V – Africa, Std. VI – Australia & North America, Std. VII – South America, Std. VIII – Europe & Std. IX – Asia. Every child took an effort to make charts and neatly write points related to their topic on the charts which was paid off by appreciation from the teachers and parents. Parents were invited to come and see and hear their children speak as well as judge them. The best speakers are rewarded with badges and certificates.

Teachers’ Day Celebration – 6th September 2016

Teachers Day was celebrated on 6th of September. The day was a fun filled one for both the teachers and children. The day began with a celebration by cutting a beautiful cake organized by the Std. X Students and snacks for the teachers. Personalized cards made by the students of Std. X for every teacher made the teachers feel special. Later the teachers enjoyed watching the Std. IX & X perform several group dances for them. The day ended with sumptuous lunch for all the teachers..

Junior & Senior Sports – 1st & 3rd September, 2016

Junior Sports was held on the 1st September 2016 and the chief guest for the event was Mrs. R Geetha (International Athlete). The Novelty races and adorable Musical Displays by our Junior Michaelities added colour and fun to the day.
Dr. M P Ganesh (Former captain of the Indian Hockey Team and Arjuna Awardee) was the Chief Guest for the Senior Sports Day. The Pyramids and Musical Display Drills were the highlights of the day besides all the races, athletic events and band display.
Five schools besides ours participated in the inter school Under 13 & Under 16 boys and girls relays. Royal Concorde International School, Clarence High School, Devamatha Central School, East Point and SJR Public School took part. Our school team won 1st place in all the four categories.

Karnataka ICSE School Athletic Meet – August 2016

Our School participated in the KISA (Karnataka ICSE School Association) Athletic Championship which was held at Vidyanagar, Bangalore on 29th & 30th August 2016. Our students were victorious in various categories as follows and Malavika S qualified to represent Karnataka at the ASISC National Athletic Championship to be held at Hyderabad in November 2016.

  • 4 x 100 meters relay (Girls) - 2nd place
  • 4 x 100 meters relay (Boys) - 3rd place
  • 100 Meters Running (Girls) – Malavika. S – 1st Place
  • 100 Meters Running (Boys) – Don J Babu – 3rd Place
  • Long Jump (Girls) – Hannah Mathew – 3rd Place
  • Triple Jump (Girls) – Hannah Mathew – 3rd Place
  • Triple Jump (Boys) – Umesh M – 3rd Place

Independence Day – 15th August, 2016

Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August. After a solemn March Past, flag hoisting and singing of the National Anthem, the high school students presented a skit based on corruption which was inspiring. The teachers sang an inspiring patriotic song ‘Insaaf Ke Dagar Pe’ that extols the children to walk in the path of righteousness. Questions were asked based on the speeches delivered and the winners were rewarded with chocolates. Later sweets were distributed to everyone.

9th Bangalore Olympics State Athletic Meet 2016

Our School participated in the 9th Bangalore Olympics – 2016 State Athletic Meet, which was held at Sree Kanteerava Stadium on 22nd and 23rd July 2016. Over 3000 students participated in this event. We are proud to say that several of our children were victorious in various categories as follows.

         Under 16 category

  • 4 x 100 meters relay (Girls) – 2nd place

Prayer Service – 2nd July, 2016

On the 2nd July, 2016 we had a prayer service for blessings in the new academic year as well as to commemorate our beloved founder Late Mrs. Betsy Chacko’s 15th Death Anniversary. Fr. Sandeep Menezes, Parish Priest of Christ the Redeemer Church, Hennur was the Chief Celebrant. He gave an inspiring speech to the students with the theme being ‘be good, do good’. Ms. Louisa one of our longest serving staff members shared some of the wonderful memories she had of Mrs. Betsy Chacko. Prayers and hymns by our choir added to the solemnity of the event.

Science Week – 27th June to 1st of July

Science week was held for classes V – IX between 27th and 1st of July, 2016. Every child presented their research and understanding in a particular topic and parents judged their presentation. Each class had had different topics. Mixtures and separation techniques, periodic table; metals and non metals with their electronic configurations were some of the topics covered. Besides individual presentations to parents; each class also made a group presentation to the rest of the school after the lunch break. Points given by all the parents were added and those who got a scoring of ‘Excellent’ by about half the parents or more were given badges and certificates.

Felicitation of Toppers (ICSE – 2016) – 7th June, 2016

Sneha A – 98% the school topper from the Science stream was given a cash award of Rs. 20,000/-, while the 2nd highest scorer Deena Mary Edward – 96.3% was given Rs. 10,000/- and felicitated by the Director Mrs. Sonya Chacko. The two highest scorers from the Commerce stream Karen Andrea and Bineeta Virgin 93% were also given a cash award of Rs. 10,000/- each. Sneha and Deena addressed the students and shared their tips on study preparations.

Prize Day Celebration – 1st April 2016

Prize Day was celebrated on 1st April, 2016 to honour the best performers in Academics for the year 2015 – 16. The categories for which the prizes or certificates were given are as follows:

(a) Academics Awards – Students who scored 85% and above in their tests and exams throughout the year.
(Given for each subject)

(b) Honour Roll – Well mannered students who managed at least an average performance or more in studies.

(c) Full Attendance – Students who did not take even a day’s leave.

(d) Exemplary Student Leadership Award – Students with excellent leadership qualities

(e) Star Pupil Award – Best Academic Performer of each section.

The programmes were punctuated with beautiful dances and songs by various classes. The students and parents went home with a sense of pride and honour at the end of the programme.
