KPMG INTER SCHOOL ATHLETIC MEET - 24th – 26th Nov., 2011.

St.Michael's School participated in the KPMG Inter school Athletic Meet, which was held at Sree Kanteerava Stadium on 24th, 25th and 26th of November 2011. Nearly 105 schools from across Karnataka took part in the meet. Our students were victories in various categories. In the Under 10 boys 8x50 meters relay, our students secured 2nd place,  Under 14 boys 4x100meters relay we secured 2nd place and in both the boys and girls under 16, 4x100 meters relay we secured 2nd place.

Jachin. S of Std IX won 1st place in 400 meters running and 3rd place in 100 meters running. Apart from this our school won the trophy for Best Match Past.

Childrens’ Day Celebration – 15th November, 2011

Childrens’ Day was celebrated with a great spirit as the children were all waiting to watch their teachers perform and also to perform / watch the fancy dress competition. The celebration was conducted in 2 sessions separately for KG–Std. II & Std.III – X.

The day began with an assembly by the teachers and the children were treated to a variety of dance performances like a Goan dance (KG teachers), Indo western dance (Middle and high school teachers), Fusion dance (High school teachers) and a medley (primary teachers). Apart from this, various talent competitions were organized for the children to showcase their talents like the Fancy Dress, Flower Arrangement, Pot Pouri and Rangoli. Chips, Cake and chocolates were given to all the children.

Junior & Senior Sports – 11th & 12th November, 2011
Sports Day was held in two sessions- the Junior Sports was on 11thNovember and Senior Sports on 12th November.
Mrs. B. Pramila Aiyappa, Olympian & Ekalavya Awardee, was the Chief Guest for the Junior Sports.

Mr. Prashanth Fernandes, Principal, Ryan International School was the Chief Guest for the Senior Sports Day. The Pyramids and Musical Display Drills were the highlights of the day besides all the races and athletic events. Four schools participated for the boys inter- school relay excluding our school. Devamatha Central School (Horamavu), St. Vincent Pallotti (Babusahibplaya), Royal Concorde International School (Kalyan Nagar) and East Point (Banaswadi). St. Michael’s Boys Relay Team won the first place.

Five schools besides ours participated in the inter school girls relay. St. Charles School (Kamanahalli), St. Charles Girls (Lingurajpuram), Devamatha Central School (Horamavu), St. Vincent Pallotti (Babusahibplaya) and Royal Concorde International School (Kalyan Nagar). St. Michael’s Girls Relay Team won the first place.

Ex – Michaelites Association – 25th September 2011

The Ex- Michaelites i.e. the old students of our school, got together in the school on the 25th of September. Being a Sunday, many ex-students were able to participate and join in the celebration. Some fun games were organized to add to the celebration. After Lunch they spent some time chatting with their friends and recalling the memories of their school days.

Teachers’ Day Celebration – 23rd September 2011

Due to the first term examination that was on from 3rd September till 17th September, Teachers Day was celebrated on 23rd of September, thus giving the children time to prepare for the event. The day was a fun filled one for both the teachers and children.
The day began with a Volley ball match and later a Throw ball match between the teachers and children. The children were thrilled to engage in a fun filled activity with the teachers. Immediately after the matches, games were organized separately for the K. G, Primary and Secondary teachers. We also had some colorful dance performances by our senior students. The day ended with delicious lunch for the teachers.

KISA- ICSE Schools Athletic Meet – 20th and 21st August 2011

On the 20th and  21st of August 2011, our students went to Mysore to take part in the Karnataka State Level ISCE and ISC Athletic Meet at De Paul International School. 56 ICSE Schools from all over Karnataka participated at the meet.  Our students performed well. As a result.

  • Our Boys relay team secured 1st place in the 4x100 meters relay.
  • Our Girls relay team secured 2nd place in the 4x100 meters relay
  • Eliyah. A of Std. X won 2nd place in the 100 meters running.

Junior Michaelites Parents Day – 20th August 2011

The Parents Day Celebration for the KG and Primary Section was held on 20th August 2011 this year. The program was divided into 2 sessions. KG – Std. I in the morning and Std. II – V in the after noon. Every child was given the opportunity to participate in either a dance, play or song.

Independence Day Celebration – 15th August 2011

Independence Day was celebrated with full spirit on 15th August, 2011. Celebration began with a  March Past and Flag Hoisting, A patriotic dance,  a song and a speech on Sardar Vallabhai Patel and a skit. Later questions were asked based on the speech on Sardar Vallabhai Patel. The day ended with an Indian sweet to all  the children.

Bangalore School Athletic Meet – 13th – 16th July, 2011

Our school took part in the 4th Bangalore School Olympics Athletic Meet which was held at Kanteerava Stadium between 13th – 16th July 2011. Since it was during our tests we sent only a few students. All those we sent came back victorious.

Our Girls relay team secured 1st place and the boys relay team 2nd. Eliyah. A of Std. X got 2nd place in the boys 100mts running and Liya Lonappan of Std. IX got 3rd place in the girls 100mts running.

Christian Students Retreat – 9th July 2011

Our School had organized a Retreat for all the Christian students of Std. VII to IX. in the school auditorium on 9th July 2011. The retreat was led by the members from Project Life.

The program was conducted mainly to help the students understand the values of Christian life and help them grow in faith. Some fun games were also organized to make the program even more interesting.

Discover India Quiz Program – 7th July 2011

We had a Team from Discover India come over to school and conduct a Quiz Program for the students of Std. V – IX on the 7th July, 2011 in the school premises.

The students had a very good time of knowledge development as the questions were based on the Indian achievements, important landmark of the country, Historical Culture and many more. The winners were presented medals.

Prayer Service - 2nd July 2011

On the 2nd July, 2011 we had a prayer service in memory of our beloved Foundress Late Mrs. Betsy Chacko’s 10th Death Anniversary and for blessings in the new academic year. Rev. Fr. Sebastian Thekkedathu, Principal, Kristu Jayanthi College was the Chief Guest of the event, and gave the students an inspiring speech on making the right choices.

Two of our staff, Ms. Louisa & Mrs. Christina shared some of their beautiful memories they had with Mrs. Betsy Chacko along with a slide show. The stage was beautifully decorated with flowers and some lovely hymns by the choir added to the solemnity of the event.

Investiture Ceremony - 6th June 2011

The Investiture Ceremony was conducted at the school on the 6th of June. All the Captains, Vice Captains and Prefects including Head Boy and Head Girl were appointed as Leaders for the year 2011 – 2012.

The Director Mrs. Sonya Chacko pinned on their badges while the Principal Mrs. Prabha honored the captains and Vice Captains with sashes.

Science Exhibition Project – 19th February 2011

The senior project exhibition (Std. V – VIII) was held on the 19th Feb, 2011. The children of each class put up various projects relevant to their class and studies like Mathematics made easy, Types of Alarms, Dangers of using Pesticides and some Science Experiments.

Graduation Day Celebration – 11th February, 2011

The Graduation Ceremony- a grand but solemn affair was held for the out going students of Std. X on 11th Feb, 2011. Rev. Father Jose Kutty, the Principal of Kristu Jayanthi College was the Chief Guest for the event. His address to the students was truly inspiring and motivating. Students who excelled in various subjects were awarded certificates. The best in each field were also honoured.

Spreading Christmas Cheer - 2010
Other Charitable Contributions - January 5th - 7th 2011.

Of the remaining charity collection of Rs.28,500/-, a cheque of Rs.16,000/- was handed over to the Yuvalok Foundation (which educates street children and rescued children from child labour) and an amount of Rs.8000/- was spent on provisions for the Auto Raja Home of Hope renamed now as New Ark Mission of India. This home takes care of the sick elderly who have been abandoned by their families. The highest charity contributors of Std. IX & X gave away the cheque to Yuvalok Foundation and the provisions to Home of Hope. Rs.4,500/- worth of provisions like sugar, oil, dhal, onions & potatoes were given to Mr. Morong’s home where he takes care of 12 needy children. The highest contributors of Std. VI & VII visited his home & gave away the provisions.

Little Sisters of the Poor Old Age Home – 22nd December, 2010

On the 22nd Dec. one half of our Std. X students visited the Old Age Home run by the Little Sisters of the poor. The choir joined them on this visit. They sang some songs and distributed new sarees and shirts to the inmates. They even made personalized cards for each inmate. Later they spent some quality time chatting with the elderly. Toiletries and snacks donated by our KG section were also handed over.

Infant Jesus Home – 22nd December, 2010

The second half of the Std. X students and the Bosco Kids Club members visited the Infant Jesus Home for children suffering from AIDS on 22nd Dec. The choir entertained the children with some songs and since they had requested for some costumes, our Std. X students had bought a full set of Ghagras for their Indian dance performances. The Bosco Kids Club students of our school donated silver skirts and jackets for their Western dance performances. Besides this, provisions and toiletries which had been donated by the KG section of the school were also handed over.

Visit to the Shishu Bhavan – 20th December, 2010

The other half of Std. VII students visited the Shishu Bhavan (an orphanage run by The Missionaries of Charity) on 20th Dec. The choir joined them to sing some classic Christmas carols and entertained the children at the orphanage. At Shishu Bhavan they donated biscuits, other snacks and toiletries. They left after spending some time playing with the little ones.

Visit to the Government School – 16th December, 2010

As a part of the School’s charity drive, one half of the Std. VIII students visited the nearby Government school on the 16th December. The students had bought gifts and snacks to take with them to the government school. At the Government school each child was given a note book, a colouring book, pencils and a box of crayons or colour pencils. After that they had a little party with chips, chocolate and cake.

Christmas Celebration 20th & 21st December, 2010

Christmas celebrations were held for KG – Std. II on 20th Dec. in the school auditorium. The tiny tots put up a Christmas play and sang some lovely Christmas songs. The children were rewarded with a visit by Santa Claus. Who danced and sang with them. Every class had a party with their classes decorated. Games were organized by the teachers to make the day even more joyful for the children. Later snacks and presents were given to every child.

The higher classes had their party on 21st Dec. They too presented the Christmas play and sang a mix of traditional and new peppy Christmas songs. The program ended with distribution of blankets, towels, cakes and toiletries to 15 less privileged families from the neighbourhood who were specially invited for the program. Each family was also provided 20-25kgs of provisions such as wheat, rice, ragi, cooking oil, dal etc. All the children then went on to have their party in their classes with games, snacks and gifts for all.

Visit to the Bangalore International Airport – 26th November, 2010

The students of Std. V got a wonderful and rare opportunity to visit the Bangalore International Airport. At the Airport they were so excited to watch the flights taking off and landing. They were also shown all around the airport including the departure and arrival areas, criminals interrogation room, checking in counters, etc.
 
Visit to the Film Making Unit – 15th December, 2010

The students of Std. VI were taken to visit a Film Making Unit. Once there, the children were shown the different aspects of movie making, like FCP (Final Cut Pro), Animation, Editing, Scene, Action, 2D and 3D.

Dog Squad Demonstration – 29th October 2010

On 29th Oct., we were thrilled to have the Karnataka Dog Squad team come over to school and display their skills. 5 dogs who have been trained especially to work for the Crime Department along with their trainers performed some amazing feats including , identifying a bomb, following the scent of a person and catching him from a hidden location and identifying the scent of a person (volunteer) from several handkerchiefs laid out before them.

Visit to the Design Trading Centre- 22nd and 23rd Sept. 2010

The students of Std. V and Std. VI had a wonderful opportunity to visit the Design Trading Centre at Victoria Road on the 22nd and 23rd of Sept. 2010, which was organized by the Hoopla Club. At the centre the children were shown the art of pottery making, block printing on fabric, and things made out of cane and bamboo.

Maggi Food Fest- 22nd September, 2010.

On the 22nd of September, we had a group from Maggi India ltd., come over to school and serve freshly prepared Maggi noodles for all the students and staff of the school. The children were absolutely delighted to partake in the treat.

Ex- Michaelities Association Meeting 2010- 29th August 2010.

The Ex- Michaelities got together in the school on the 29th of August. Being a Sunday, many ex-students were able to participate and join in the celebration. After Lunch they even had a cricket match to relive their old days of fun and excitement again.

20th & 21st of August 2010- Parents Day Program

The Parents Day Program was split into 3 sessions. The Junior Michaelites Parents Day (Kg – Std. I) was held in the morning on the 20th. The Junior Michaelites Parents Day Program (Std. II – Std. V) was held on 20th Afternoon and the Senior Michaelites Parents Day Program was held on 21st August. Every child in the school participated either in dances, plays, songs or individual items.

Independence Day Celebration

On Aug. 15th, our children enjoyed the Independence Day Celebration and actively took part in the March Past, Flag Hoisting and quiz.  Chocolates were distributed to the children.

31st July 2010 - Retreat for Christian Students

Our School had organized a Retreat for all the Christian students of Std. VII to X. in the school auditorium on 31st July 2010. The retreat was led by Mr. Sunil Mahajan along with four other members from Project Life.

Visit to the National Gallery of Modern Art

The students of Std. IV, VIII & IX got a wonderful and rare opportunity to see various forms of art by famous artists. They visited the National Gallery of Modern Art on Palace Road in the last week of July.
